Description
Manpu Gama’s small, perfectly formed Yakishime sake cup is remarkably light and sits gently in the hand. It was fired over four days in an Anagama wood firing.
Natural ash deposits are visible across the front. A particularly intense accumulation of ash has left behind a unique yellowish pattern. Inside, the distinctive “taste” of the Shigaraki clay reveals itself in warm rust tones developed during the firing. The traces of the potter’s wheel are also visible, sweeping across the surface in a confident, graceful movement.
On the underside of the guinomi, you will find the signature “Man” and three marks where the cup rested on supports during the firing. At one of these points, excess ash glaze has been enhanced with Kintsugi.
A small Yakishime sake cup by Manpu Gama, bringing together the studio’s years of experience and the unique traces of the Anagama firing.
Capacity: approx. 40 – 50 ml
