Description

Part of the sand-coloured, smooth Hokoshima collection, this Tile Plate features a form reminiscent of a traditional tile.
Surprisingly, the plate was first shaped on the potter’s wheel.
Here too, the dynamic interplay of colour shifts between light and dark firing accents.
The plate stands on four small feet, while its gently curved shape beautifully frames the dishes served upon it — such as grilled salmon with soy-honey dressing and grated radish.

Isegahama Toubou – Tomokiyo Kunio

In the early 1980s, Tomokiyo Kunio established his workshop in Hyuga, on the southern island of Kyushu. Shaped by the sea and nature, his functional ceramics have a distinctly rugged character. His time in Mashiko and Kasama—both renowned pottery centres for glazed ceramics—can be seen in his skilful use of a wide range of glazes.
