Description

Part of the sand-coloured Hyuga collection, this small serving plate adds a geometric element that creates contrast when presented alongside more rounded forms.
The smooth glaze playfully reveals the influence of the firing process and the slightly coarser texture of the grogged clay.

Isegahama Toubou – Tomokiyo Kunio

In the early 1980s, Tomokiyo Kunio established his workshop in Hyuga, on the southern island of Kyushu. Shaped by the sea and nature, his functional ceramics have a distinctly rugged character. His time in Mashiko and Kasama—both renowned pottery centres for glazed ceramics—can be seen in his skilful use of a wide range of glazes.
